How To Find And Effectively Use Mage Cloak Runes And Mage Ring Runes In WOW Classic SOD Phase 4?
In each phase of World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery, new runes were introduced for each class. Of course, in Phase 4, there are also new runes for Mage, such as Mage Cloak Runes and Mage Ring Runes.
They can all provide you with various skills or bonuses, just to achieve a competitive balance when you reach the highest level. Although some old runes have been removed, replaced, or even completely changed, new runes will be added in each phase, so don’t worry about the number of runes.
In the latest phase of WoW SoD, you can collect three new Mage Cloak Runes and some Mage Ring Runes. This guide will detail the location and effects of Mage Cloak Runes and Mage Ring Runes, so that you can find and use them faster.
Mage Cloak Runes
Arcane Barrage
- Effect
You can fire a missile at the target enemy and cause huge Arcane damage. In addition, Arcane damage has a 20% chance to trigger Missile Barrage ability, making you more powerful.
- Location
In WoW SoD Phase 4, Arcane Barrage is actually only available by reading enough Books, which is a continuation of a Greater Friend of Library Season of Discovery.
You have to read at least 35 books in this phase, so be sure to keep an eye out for places where you might find books and read them. Stormwind Library is a good place to start, as is Scarlet Library wing, which has a lot of books. You don’t have to go looking for these books, as they are everywhere in Azeroth.
Frozen Orb
- Effect
When you use this rune, you will launch a spinning orb of ice that you can move forward quickly for 16 seconds. During this movement, the orb can deal Frost damage to enemies every second and apply Chill effect to them.
The first time the orb deals damage to an enemy, it will also slow down its movement speed. If you have Fingers of Frost Rune slotted, you can also trigger this rune’s effect.
- Location
Phase 4 Frozen Orb Rune is located in Felwood. After defeating Deadwood Furbolg enemies in Felwood, you will receive Mysterious Darnassian Scroll item, which you can decrypt with the Comprehension Charm you obtained earlier.
Then, you need to go to (60,13) and find a Night Elf NPC Calyx Greenglow wandering around the area. It will give you a quest called Healing The Healer, which you can then follow to Felwood to defeat Irontree Stomper enemies, which will eventually give you Unusual Flask and a bunch of SOD Gold.
Finally, you need to go to Winterspring to talk to Calyx Greenglow again, and after leaving, you need to defeat Enraged Shade to get a Frozen Orb rune.
Overheat
- Effects
This rune ensures that your Critical Strikes will deal critical hits. Additionally, while you have Overheat equipped, you can cast a Critical Strikes while casting another spell. Best of all, Critical Strikes have a 15 second cooldown and are not affected by GCDs! These effects make your fights much easier!
- Location
Overheat rune is in Western Plaguelands. You need to use Fire Spells on four Novice Frost Mage enemies in Western Plaguelands so that they will be unfrozen.
After unfrozen, you also need to remove their Lesser Curse ability to give you one of the four Torn Spell Notes. The four Novice Frost Mage enemies are located in Dalson’s Tears, Felstone Field, Gahrron’s Withering, and Writhing Haunt.
When you have all four Torn Spell Notes, you can create Overheat rune. Remember, you don’t have to kill Novice Frost Mage enemies outright, but if you accidentally hit them too hard, you’ll need to wait for them to respawn and try again.
Mage Ring Runes
In Phase 4, all Mage Ring Runes are obtained in the same way - by finding a specific book somewhere in the map. Mage Ring Runes can be unlocked. It can improve your skills for a weapon or spell specialization for a specific class.
When you reach the highest level, when facing elite monsters above level 60, the enhanced effects of your weapons or spell skills can reduce the chance of missing attacks or spells. Without further ado, let’s take a look!
Rune Of Arcane Specialization
Applicable classes: Druid & Hunter & Mage
- Effect
Rune of Arcane Specialization increases your chance of hitting the target when using Arcane spells. It can increase it by at least 6%.
- Location
You need to go to Hearthglen, the northernmost part of Western Plaguelands. Ring Rune book that can unlock the rune is near the coordinates (46, 16).
Rune of Fire Specialization
Applicable classes: Mage & Shaman & Warlock
- Effects
Rune of Fire Specialization increases your chance to hit with Fire spells by 6%.
- Location
You need to go to Searing Gorge to find a Slag Pit and find Overseer Maltorius’s room. If you don’t have a sense of direction, you can find it directly above Archeologist area of Slag Pit. Once you enter the room, you will see a Red Book, which is Ring Rune book that unlocks this rune.
These are some of the runes you can use to enhance your Mage in World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery Phase 4. I hope you have fun exploring Phase 4, and we’ll see you in Azeroth!
