How To Defeat Midra, Lord Of Frenzied Flame In Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC? - A Recommended Guide
Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, is an optional boss in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and some of his attacks will cause a serious Madness build-up to the player. While Midra is not as powerful as some of the supreme bosses, fighting him still requires you to be quick on your feet.
How To Find Midra, Lord Of Frenzied Flame?
Midra resides in Midra’s Manse, which can be reached through Abyssal Woods. You must first clear Darklight Catacombs, unlocking Abyss portion of the map.
It is important to note that when passing through Abyssal Woods, be careful of the untouchable enemies, and you will later come across a door leading to Midra’s Manse, behind which are many headless corpses with their heads covered in a layer of golden material.
What Do You Need To Equip Before A Battle?
Midra has many attacks that cause Madness build-ups, so be sure to equip Elden Ring Items that improve your focus, such as Clarifying Horn Charm and Mottled Necklace +2. Flamedrake +3 Talisman is also a good choice, as most of Midra’s melee and Flame of Frenzy attacks will cause Fire damage.
Therefore, it is recommended that you equip armor with good fire resistance. If you use a shield, be careful that his melee attacks will cause minor fragment damage, also Fire damage.
Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, is fairly weak to Bleed and Frostbite, and relatively strong to poison and scarlet rot. Using dual Katana is a fairly simple strategy against this boss, one for Bleed and the other for Frostbite.
In addition, if you are looking for more game resources to prepare for the fight against Midra, there is a Giveaway function in IGGM discord, which will occasionally release product gift information. Remember to stay active in the discord group so you don’t miss any messages.
How To Beat Midra, Lord Of Frenzied Flame?
When you enter Midra’s Arena, you will find him in Human Form. You cannot use Spirit Summons during this phase. He can quickly jump on you and cause a madness build-up at this time, and you must be wary of his grab attacks.
After defeating his weakened Human Form, you will face Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame. At the beginning of the battle, he will launch Flame of Frenzy attacks on you, and you can choose to dodge from the side or choose to take the damage and Madness build-up while summoning Spirit Ashes.
Phase One
After dodging or taking his initial attack, Midra will occasionally open his arms and launch Flame of Frenzy attacks when you are far enough away from him. All attacks with Midra’s arms open can follow a straight line, so they can all be dodged by rolling to the side.
To mix things up, Midra will tilt his head forward and shoot out Flame of Frenzy in a horizontal attack that you can choose to properly dodge by rolling backwards or forwards.
The boss will also launch a 3-hit melee attack that can be dodged by quickly rolling backwards. You can also easily block the attack with a shield, but you may take minor damage.
Be sure to have your sword ready when you see Midra levitate. You can easily dodge this by rolling backwards. Or he will lunge at you with a powerful swing, which can also be dodged by rolling backwards at the right time.
Midra has another variation of the 3-hit melee combo, where he uses a stabbing attack to end the combo, and then his sword unleashes spikes after a brief delay. This attack will cause you to roll backwards. To properly dodge the last blow of this combo, you must roll backwards once more after dodging the stabbing attack.
Phase Two
Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, will enter Phase Two when he reaches 60% health. During the transition, he will fly up and slam his flaming head into the ground, launching an explosive attack with vast range. The best way to dodge this move is to move away from him and jump at the point of impact.
Afterwards, he will most likely fly towards you and attack you with his great sword, which can be dodged by rolling backwards. He will mainly use the attacks from the first phase, with a few new ones thrown in.
Midra may also jump into the air and slam his sword into the ground, causing spikes to burst out of the ground. You can dodge the initial attack by rolling in any direction, but only rolling backwards will avoid the spikes.
When his health reaches 40%, Midra’s sword will catch on fire, and his swing will send a wave of flames at you. During this time, most of his melee attacks will send a wave of flames, so you’ll have to be careful to dodge them. Rolling to the side will be your best bet.
This phase can be easily ended by dodging his attacks, and once his sword is back to normal, you can easily take him out.
With the right strategy and preparation, Midra is no longer a daunting opponent but a path to a deeper gameplay experience.
