Dear Diablo fans, I believe you have also paid attention to the recent information about the upcoming Path of Exile 2 Early Access. However, many Diablo 4 players refuse to consider trying it. This is largely because POE 2 is basically the opposite of Diablo 4, whether it is the extremely scary game atmosphere, the convoluted main story, or the extremely difficult endgame adjustment that will make you cry for the precious world of Sanctuary.

So what about you? Have you considered giving up everything you love in Diablo 4 to play POE 2? With this in mind, we are here to discuss all the reasons why you absolutely hate Path of Exile 2. Buckle up and let’s go!

Why Is Path Of Exile 2 Facing A Backlash From Diablo 4 Avid Fans? - 6 Main Reasons

1. Skill Tree Complexity

First, let’s talk about freedom. In Diablo 4, you have a nice and neat skill tree, you can randomly select some abilities, maybe swap out one or two Legendary Aspects, and then enjoy the game. Your build is simple, clean, and easy to manage.

But Path of Exile 2 is the exact opposite. GGG doesn’t believe in simplicity, they give you a huge passive skill tree, which looks complicated and difficult to manage. You have to spend more time to understand and master it to ensure that the build you create is not a poor character in the end. If you are willing to challenge the difficulty, then good luck.

2. Disaster Skill Gem System

Let’s start talking about Skill Gem System. The developers of POE always seem to think about how to make the skills as complex as possible. For example, add some Support Gems to it, mix them, and link them. This means that your build is either brilliant or a complete disaster. However, the latter is often more likely.

If you have enjoyed the game experience in Diablo 4 where you can run around, slam buttons, and then everything will die, you may be disappointed in POE 2. Path of Exile 2 wants you to use your brain. In PoE 2, you need to plan your build, consider your resistance, balance your equipment, and think about strategy. Here, if you are not fully prepared for the battle, you are dead. If you don’t check your elemental resistance, then you’re going to have a hard time surviving enemy fireballs.

3. Loot Is Hard To Get

You know what the good thing about Diablo 4 is? You can get some loot here and there, especially some common items, which appear very frequently. But in PoE 2, you can say goodbye to that simplicity. You have to stay focused at all times and check every item carefully. Do you think upgrading your equipment in Diablo 4 is also a challenge? In PoE 2, it is no exaggeration to say that you need a doctorate in Alchemy and Suffering to understand how to make and earn PoE2 Currency.

And in Diablo 4, because it is like a guided tour through hell, you have clear quest markers, a useful map, and everything points in the right direction, which means you never feel lost. With Path of Exile 2, they just throw you into this huge and dangerous world. There is no hand-holding guidance here. You need to rely on your wisdom to figure out where to go and what to do next. They want you to explore and discover things on your own.

4. Painful Endgame Mechanics

If you’ve made it to Diablo 4’s endgame, congratulations, you can now auto-play through Nightmare Dungeons, Pit and Helltides. But in PoE 2, the endgame is a whole different kind of difficulty.

You don’t just go through the same dungeons repeatedly, now you have to navigate the map, mod them, and face off against stronger and tougher bosses who don’t care about your easy farming sessions in the endgame. It’s almost like Path of Exile 2 wants you to keep challenging yourself, while the endgame is designed to break you. It’s like an endless maze of pain, with layers of bosses, modifiers, and mechanics that make your head spin. You need to keep grinding, optimizing, and pushing your build to the limit.

And what about those bosses in PoE 2? They’re not the friendly dungeon bosses from Diablo 4 that politely signal an attack. These guys have a million mechanics that will kill you in one blow if you blink.

But if that’s not your thing, maybe sticking with Diablo 4 is a better option, as its endgame is more like a casual Sunday stroll.

5. Lack Of Cosmetics Shop

Let’s be honest, one of the best things about Diablo 4 was Cosmetics Shop. As long as you had enough Diablo 4 Gold, you could dress up your character with different accessories while still smashing demons. But in POE 2, all you get is a stash tab to store your massive loot collection and equally awesome cosmetics. But where’s the fun in that? No pay-to-win shortcuts? No boosters to finish the game quickly? It’s boring.

6. Content Is Difficult To Manage

Finally, let’s talk about content. Now, Diablo 4 is a great game that’s simple and easy to manage. But the different expansions, leagues, events, and systems in POE make it hard to keep up. Do you really want to be bombarded with content updates and new leagues that completely change the way you play? That’s just too much work.

Overall, POE 2 is just too complex for most players. Too much to think about, loot management, and gameplay. Everything is simple in Diablo 4. Not only is the world easy to navigate, but the game will hold your hand and guide you step by step to the end. Unless, of course, you are really looking for a real challenge, a game with depth, complexity, and constant updates to keep it fresh. If you can really handle it, we also look forward to seeing you in Wraeclast.
