What Updates Does Last Epoch Season 3: Beneath Ancient Skies Bring? - Minion AI, Merchants Guild And More

Last Epoch has always kept players engaged with regular updates, and players are eagerly anticipating Season 3: Beneath Ancient Skies, scheduled to launch on August 21st, and the new content it will bring.

According to the information currently available, Season 3 will improve minion AI, customize cosmetics offline, and Merchants Guild, as well as add a Primal Hunt system. These improvements will significantly enhance the player experience.

Minion AI

Season 3 will see a major overhaul of minion AI. Previously, minion AI was in Protect Mode, following the player closely and providing support as needed.

While this mode is effective for protecting the player, there are situations where minion AI isn't always desirable, especially for specific combat requirements.

Therefore, to enhance the strategic nature of the game, the game will allow players to deploy minion AI more flexibly.

Specifically, players can switch between Protect Mode and Assassinate Mode. Unlike Protect Mode, minions in Assassinate Mode lock onto enemies from a greater distance and focus more on their targets, reducing frequent target switching.

This change not only improves combat stability but also allows players to more flexibly deploy minions in complex encounters, allowing for a richer and more strategic experience.

Customize Cosmetics Offline

A major feature of this update is the addition of the ability to customize cosmetics offline. This means players can not only customize their cosmetics to their liking but also save these settings without an internet connection.

For PC/Steam players, this feature will require a onetime setup and re-equipment of cosmetics, but will benefit from its added convenience going forward.

Merchant Guild

Season 3 also sees significant changes to Merchant Guild. Specifically, two new tokens have been introduced: Merchant's Tokens and Black Market Tokens. These tokens expand the variety of tokens available within Merchant Guild, making it easier for players to trade items.

Specifically, Merchant's Tokens can help players waive favor costs, making transactions more efficient. Black Market Tokens, on the other hand, offer even more powerful functionality. 

Besides waiving favor costs, players can also use them to acquire items that haven't yet reached their corresponding level, and reduce their gear level to 1.

These two new tokens will significantly enrich the player trading experience and provide new options for those pursuing extreme gear.

Primal Hunt System

In addition to the aforementioned updates, Last Epoch Season 3 will also introduce a new Primal Hunt system. In this system, players will enter Rifts and battle Rift Beasts.

After defeating these Rift Beasts, players will be able to release a young beast, which will evolve and gain new abilities and physical traits.

As you can see, the core of this system lies in the evolution mechanic. Through repeated hunts, players can gradually cultivate stronger beasts. Evolved beasts become more ferocious and are more likely to ambush players.

Through repeated encounters, players can not only obtain rare items, primordial materials, and Last Epoch Gold, but can also exchange these for primordial Uniques, new powerful items, and Runes of Evolution.

These primordial items are incredibly powerful, and Season 9 will add 25 primordial Uniques, though players can only equip one at a time.
