Diablo 4 Makes Important Clarification About Hardcore Race

Diablo 4 just made an essential clarification concerning the Hardcore Victories Contest which will level the arena. This new rule means no Diablo 4 players may have an inherent edge over their peers when the competition starts with the game’s release.

Recently, Diablo 4 announced the Hardcore Victories Contest–a race in which the first 1000 players to achieve level 100 on the Hardcore character may have their names immortalized on the statue of Lilith around the Blizzard campus. However, some fans were concerned that players who may have had access to review copies of Diablo 4 for the weeks just before its launch might have an unfair edge over those who didn't.

This led Diablo 4 to amend the guidelines of this contest to make sure it would be fair. According to the updated conditions and terms, players who had use of review copies and employees of Blizzard as well as their affiliates, in addition to their immediate members of the family and people living within the same households, are ineligible for this competition. Additionally, Blizzard retains the authority to disqualify anyone who tries to claim the offer whether it discovers other outliers that may have given them an unfair advantage.

Before Blizzard officially disqualified these people from the Hardcore Victories Contest, many reviewers who had prior use of Diablo 4 had voluntarily recused themselves from the competition. Maxroll, a significant website that writes guides for ARPGs like Diablo 4 and Path of Exile, was one particular group that led the charge to promote equity with this particular contest. Many believe the initiative set by Maxroll along with other creators encouraged Blizzard to create the official rules change.

Many Diablo 4 players are glad Blizzard made this change. Having a full understanding of the Diablo 4 map would inform these players of the fastest methods to hit level 100 whilst giving them experience on how best to survive the bosses and traps they'll encounter. Disallowing these players the opportunity to claim one from the 1000 slots within the Hardcore Victories Contest ensures the winners may have to earn their spot with no advantage.

That said, your competition still won’t be truly equitable. Hardcore Victories Contest begins when Diablo 4 enters early access on June 1 at 4 PM PDT. Unfortunately, early access is just available to players who purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate editions of Diablo 4. If players are hoping to assert one of these limited slots within the contest, they'll need to upgrade to some premium version of Diablo 4 so that they don’t will lose out on four extra times of leveling.

Diablo 4 is going to be available on June 6 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
