Diablo 4 Vessel Of Hatred DLC Has Drawn The Plots From Lord Of The Rings
You may feel terrified after witnessing Neyrelle’s body as she was tortured by Mephisto’s Soulstone, which causes her to see visions of her dead mother. She is trapped in a torture chamber in her own corrupted mind and becomes a miserable prisoner. In this increasing agony, Mephisto hangs her by her arms and legs. Splitting her limbs and pulling out all the veins and tendons, she is displayed in a hellish corpse exhibition.
But this body horror is not the actual source of horror, but the setting of Soulstone. For readers who love to read fantasy novels, this setting is actually very familiar, because it has appeared before in Lord Of The Rings. In Vessel of Hatred expansion, Soulstone is essentially the other version of Rings.
Throughout Vessel Of Hatred DLC, players are required to combat evil enemies safeguard the region from being destroyed by Mephisto’s Soulstone. Throughout the journey, it is recommended to pick up drops of bosses as much as possible, especially Diablo 4 Gold, which can be traded for most of the items that you are desperate for.
Soulstone And Rings
In Lord of the Rings, the humble hero Frodo has embarked on his journey to prohibit a god-like being from destroying the world, and that is Rings. Neyrelle’s relationship with Soulstone - a cursed artifact containing a demonic soul - is the relationship between the hobbits Frodo and Rings. The entire book is mainly about Frodo and the group that formed along the way to destroy One Ring.
One Ring in Lord of the Rings is created by Dark Lord, Sauron, which is designed to rule the other Rings and the entire men, dwarves, and elves. So in fact, Mephisto is Sauron incarnate, representing the dark forces. Both villains were thought to have been completely defeated, but they were just accumulating power and existing in some non-material form. They wanted to further realize their evil plans, but a little girl and a little hobbit finally stopped the conspiracy.
Plot Setting Similarity
If you made a comparison between the impact that Soulstone does to Neyrelle and One Ring does to Frodo, you will find that Frodo is actually relatively lighthearted, while Neyrelle seems too painful.
Mephisto’s Soulstone is full of evil, not only eroding Neyrelle’s mind but also corrupting the world around her. The black oil Soulstone releases pollute water and transfers the wildlife into evil monsters. While One Ring merely turned Smeagol into Gollum and lay dormant at the bottom of a stream for hundreds of years.
For these two evil beings, Frodo plans to melt One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom and on the other side, Neyrelle determined to take Soulstone to Akarat’s tomb within Vault of Light to purify it. Essentially, they are destroying.
Throughout the journey, the player is to help Neyrelle destroy Soulstone and defeat Mephisto. So in the endgame, be sure to make full use of your builds and prepare necessary Diablo 4 Items to release your potential further.
Ending Similarity
The above mentioned are the main similarities between the settings of Vessel of Hatred DLC and Lord Of The Rings. In addition to these superficial similarities, there are some deeper references.
If you have already finished the adventure in Vessel of Hatred DLC, you will definitely feel that the ending subverts all your expectations and imaginations. If you have some knowledge of the plot of Lord of the Rings, this won’t be too surprising.
When the player and Neyrelle finally arrive at Vault of Light and waits Soulstone to be purified, betrayal occurs.
Eru, a Spiritborn Elder who leads your way through Nahantu, has cooperated with Mephisto to steal Soulstone and Akarat’s body, which Mephisto plans to take up. As the most important entity in Vessel of Hatred expansion, it is easy for players to take Soulstone for granted as Vessel of Hatred, but the truth is that Akarat was the vessel all along.
In Lord of the Rings, the companion who betrayed is Sam. But for the novel, only the destruction of One Ring can bring it to a perfect end. But Vessel of Hatred DLC, as one expansion of the game, did not let Soulstone die, and it also became a thrilling jumping-off point for the next chapter of Diablo 4’s story.
Vessel of Hatred DLC uses story beats and images to shape the plot, which is exactly the narrative method taken by Lord of the Rings.
