As a MMORPG with a well-developed social system, FFXIV naturally provides you with a variety of interesting emotes and actions in the game, allowing you to interact with your game friends through them, so that you can have a chance to relax after intense battles.

Recently, a new emote was launched in the game, called Pose of the Unbound, but it is more like an action than an emote, and if you often watch animation and comics, you will find that the design inspiration of this emote should come from a classic comic: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Based on this, we will speculate why the game chose Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure as the emote design idea, and also introduce you how to get this emote in FFXIV.What Is The Relationship Between FFXIV New Emote And Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure?

Introduction To Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

This is a comic work that began in 1987 and was serialized by cartoonist Hirohiko Araki in the Japanese comic magazine Weekly Shonen Jump. It was transferred to the monthly manga magazine Ultra Jump in 2005 and has been serialized to this day. Fans also refer to it as “Jojo”.

The entire plot of the comic can be divided into 9 parts, each with a new protagonist, but the common point of these protagonists is that they all have the nickname “Jojo”. So far, 6 of the 9 parts have been animated, and 1 has a live-action movie.

Because of its unique art style, frequent references to Western pop music and fashion trends, Jojo has become one of the best-selling, most iconic and influential comic series in history. Although it has only become popular outside of Japan in recent years, it has to be admitted that it has quickly become a classic work in the hearts of anime fans around the world.

FF14 New Emote & “Jojo Pose”

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure became popular in Europe and the United States mainly because the subtle weird elements in the comics brought many popular emoticons, the most famous of which is “Jojo Pose”, one of which is to put your hands in front of your face-which is also the main inspiration for Final Fantasy 14’s new emote Pose of the Unbound, and the official website of the game has also confirmed this.

Why Did FFXIV Choose A “Jojo Pose” As The New Emote?

At present, Final Fantasy 14 is quite popular among MMORPG players in different regions of the world, so if it wants to incorporate some interesting online memes into the game to make you laugh, the inspiration of the memes should be widely known and related to other games or virtual works such as animation, to ensure that most players can understand it.

Obviously, the popularity of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and the fun of “Jojo pose” can fully meet the above requirements, and maybe this is just the first step for FFXIV-if the new emote Pose of the Unbound is well received, perhaps in the future the game will also plan to carry out more formal and larger-scale crossover events with Jojo.

How To Get Pose Of The Unbound Emote?

The first thing you need to know is that this emote was added to Final Fantasy 14 in the patch 7.16 update. The update highlights the final questline in Dawntrail character quest series, but to access it, you’ll first need to complete Dawntrail’s main scenario quest and five character questlines, which are:

  • Dreams of a New Day: This questline can be started after reaching level 90 or above in a tank job.
  • An Antidote For Anarchy: This questline can be started after reaching level 90 or above in a healer job.
  • A Hunter True: This questline can be started after reaching level 90 or above in a melee DPS job.
  • The Mightiest Shield: This questline can be started after reaching level 90 or above in a ranged physical DPS job.
  • Heroes and Pretenders: This questline can be started after reaching level 90 or above in a magic ranged DPS job.

Once you’ve made sure you’ve earned the qualifications to start the quest, head to Xbalyav Ty’e in Tuliyollal (coordinates X:12.4, Y:14.7) and find the various NPCs for the corresponding questline to start the quest - in fact, this is the same place you previously visited in the restaurant downstairs where you meet Wuk Lamat during the main story quest of Dawntrail.

While you should be rewarded with FF14 Gil for completing the above quest, it’s not enough to get the new emote - you’ll also need to complete the level 100 Picking Up the Torch quest, which you can start by finding Rral Majun, also in Tuliyollal, standing near the bar. You’ll then have a conversation with her and a nearby Br’uk Evu, which will lead you to learn that Apyaahi, the founder of Passage of the Unbound, is looking for a new leader for her dubious organization.

Your job from then on is to pose as one of Apyaahi’s potential candidates and learn her true intentions in order to complete another level 100 quest, Imposing Views, which will reward you with a gift box that you can open to receive Pose of the Unbound emote.

In addition to the quests related to the new emote, it’s also recommended that you try to complete the rest of the final character questline, as this will earn you “Bright Bustle” Orchestrion Roll and “Sweet Justice” title.

After the above introduction, I believe that you have not only mastered the method of obtaining new emotes in FF14 but also become more interested in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. In fact, it is totally worth your appreciation. Thank you for reading.
